Being based overseas we relish the opportunity to sample and purchase fresh WA produce. When we are down at the property we love the opportunity to cook with fresh produce so the Bunbury Farmers Market is a MUST stop on the way.

The photos in this blog are from our last trip in February 2020 just before the madness of COVID-19 exploded on the world and I am left wondering when we will be able to return. Living in Singapore where almost all the produce is imported, visiting a place like this is a real treat especially for the kids.

With plenty to do on the property I tend to be in a rush to get down south but I always stop off for at least a coffee at the Crooked Carrot. For me it marks the half way mark and is a great place to let the kids stretch their legs. This time, I was travelling with my mum and my daughters (aged two and 4). The drive had put them both to sleep so we missed our scheduled lunch. We hit the Bunbury Farmers Market at almost 2pm so when the girls woke up they were starving and in need of a pit stop but when we walked in they were far too excited and insisted on taking a look around before we sat down to get something to eat.

We spent a good 40 minutes walking though the market looking at all the fresh food and sampling the produce. What stood out the most was how warm and friendly the staff were and how busy the place was, both with shoppers and staff stocking up the produce.

I spent the time looking for things to take back with me to Singapore and I was not disappointed.

We ended our trip with a selection of hot pastries and I couldn’t resist the french vanilla slice before I headed back in to grab some cheese and pre-prepared salads to go with the fresh fish we bought for the BBQ.

I would highly recommend stopping on the way down for provisions for your stay and on the way back for things to take home. The team also recycle their packaging at a drop off station so please remember to stick them in the car.

Don’t forget to keep your packaging to drop off for recycling on the way home
